The race for the most prestigious watchmaking awards is on!
The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) has unveiled the timepieces shortlisted for its 2026 edition, offering a unique insight into the creativity and craftsmanship that drive the international watchmaking scene today.
A selection at the heart of contemporary art
Spread across the competition’s various categories, the shortlisted timepieces showcase the remarkable diversity of contemporary watchmaking. From watches with minimalist designs to mechanical complications, chronographs, gem-set pieces, jewellery creations, artistic crafts and even mechanical clocks: the selection brings together very different worlds, all united by a shared pursuit of excellence.

The 2026 edition is notable in particular for a significant change to its categories. The GPHG is moving away from gender-based distinctions in favour of three new categories: Essential Watch, Complication Watch and Gem-Set Watch. This change reflects developments in the industry and places even greater emphasis on creativity, technical expertise and design at the heart of the competition.
Each shortlisted timepiece now continues the journey with a single goal: to win one of the prizes awarded at the ceremony on 7 November, and for one of them, the GPHG’s supreme honour.
When watches go out to meet the public
Beyond the competition, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève pursues a vital mission: to introduce as many people as possible to the richness of the art of watchmaking. The exhibitions organised as part of the GPHG are therefore one of the highlights of each edition. They offer the chance to view, in a single venue, timepieces that are usually scattered amongst manufacturers, trade fairs and private collections, and to gain a close-up understanding of the diversity of technical, aesthetic and artistic approaches in contemporary watchmaking.

For several years now, the GPHG has also been developing an exhibition design specifically conceived to foster this sense of closeness to the pieces on display. The aim is to offer an experience that is at once understated, immersive and educational, in which the watches remain the true stars of the show.
The exhibitions thus become much more than a display of the competing models: they serve as an invitation to discover watchmaking culture, its crafts, its innovations and the creativity of those who bring it to life.
From the shortlist to the winners’ list
Following this initial selection, members of the GPHG Academy will take part in the second round of voting in October, alongside the Jury.
The suspense will come to an end on Saturday 7 November 2026 at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva, during the 26th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève ceremony.
As a main partner of the GPHG, FGP Swiss & Alps is delighted to renew its support for this iconic event and to contribute to the international reputation of a craft that is deeply rooted in the identity of Geneva and Switzerland.
