Geneva, 10 May 2022 Swiss and international watch brands are invited from today to register for the 22nd edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

Registrations are open until 24 June 2022, via the dedicated digital platform (Inscriptions 2022).

The GPHG Academy, which currently brings together 650 members of the industry, has kicked off this year’s event by proposing several hundred timepieces for the competition.
The watch brands concerned will decide whether or not to accept the timepieces proposed by the Academy and may enter other models of their choice in the competition.
All brands can also enter spontaneously via the dedicated digital platform.

As a reminder, the 2022 competition introduces three significant new features:
A new category called “Mechanical Clock” opens the competition to time-measuring instruments such as clocks and pendulum clocks.
The Chronometry Prize returns to reward a timepiece whose chronometric performance is remarkable and certified by a recognised control body.
Durability will also be added to the criteria for this year’s Innovation Prize.

The list of the fifteen categories and the 2022 prizes, as well as details of the competition, can be found in the Rules for the 2022 edition on gphg.org.
Once the watch brands have submitted their entries, the Académie will hold an initial vote this summer to select the shortlisted timepieces, before taking part in a second vote at the beginning of November to determine the 2022 prize-winners alongside the Jury, itself drawn from the Académie.

The GPHG is a strategic instrument for promoting the industry’s latest innovations, enabling an international audience to follow the evolution of the art of watchmaking through a competition that culminates in the prize-giving ceremony, which this year will take place on Thursday 10 November at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva.
