Reading time — 2 minutes
The 850 members of the GPHG Academy gave their verdict this summer. By digital means and under notarial supervision, they shortlisted 90 timepieces. These 84 watches and 6 clocks are in the running to win one of the 20 prizes at this 23rd edition of the GPHG, including the prestigious Grand Prix de l’Aiguille d’Or. The Fondation du Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) invites you to discover the official preselection for 2023, as well as the stages of its world tour on gphg.org.
Each year, a series of exhibitions brings together the shortlisted watches before the prize-giving ceremony, followed by the competition winners, for an international audience of enthusiasts and amateurs alike. Organised in collaboration with local partners, these exhibitions help to promote watchmaking culture around the world, while also offering conferences, discussions, workshops and other public and private events.
The 84 watches pre-selected this year by our Academy will be on display:
- Macau: 25 – 26 September
- Hong Kong: 28 September to 1 October as part of the new Timeless Watch Week
- Kuala Lumpur: 4 – 8 October in partnership with The Hour Glass
- New York: 18 – 22 October with Watches of Switzerland
Geneva from 25 October to 12 November at the Musée Rath, in partnership with the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (MAH), which will be presenting, alongside the pre-selection of 90 GPHG timepieces, an incursion into the roots of watchmaking with the “Hand & Tool” exhibition.
Visitors will also be able to take part in guided tours, lectures, games and introductory workshops on watchmaking (Mediation Programme).
The 23rd GPHG Awards Ceremony will be held on 9 November 2023 at the Théâtre du Léman in Geneva. The winners will be decided by the 30-strong Jury, which will meet behind closed doors a few days before the ceremony, and a second vote by the Academy
