The GPHG Academy, a success story!

Geneva, 17 March 2022 – In its third year of existence, the GPHG Academy has more than 650 members! Rapidly adopted by the watchmaking world, this vast network of ambassadors of the passion for watchmaking is growing in numbers and skills to raise the profile of the industry.

A success story in several respects, the GPHG Academy has become a key instrument for sharing and promoting watchmaking culture, while at the same time democratising the selection and voting process.

Academy members take part in the various stages of the competition: first, they are invited to propose timepieces for the competition; after the brands have entered, they vote on the shortlisted timepieces, then take part in a second vote in the autumn to determine the winners alongside the jury.

The Foundation is delighted to welcome the personalities who will be joining the Academy this year, and would like to thank all the members for their involvement and commitment to watchmaking.

As a reminder, the Jury, made up of 30 members of the Academy, meets in Geneva a few days before the ceremony, behind closed doors and under notarial supervision, to physically assess the preselected watches and proceed to choose the winners by secret ballot. The result of the Academy’s vote is added to that of the Jury during this second vote.

The GPHG is a strategic instrument for promoting the industry’s latest innovations, enabling an international audience to follow the evolution of the art of watchmaking through a competition that culminates in the prize-giving ceremony, the ^22nd edition of which will take place on Thursday 10 November 2022.
